Our Country's Good

Australia. 1789. A young married lieutenant is directing rehearsals of the first play ever to be staged in that country. With only two copies of the text, a cast of convicts and one leading lady who may about to be hanged, conditions are hardly ideal.

Although set in an 18th century penal colony, this play is all heart! 'Our Country's Good' is essentially about redemption and what it means to be human. There are tender moments, funny moments and some good-old heated discussions about the nature of theatre! This prize-winning play, written by Timberlake Wertenbaker, is being performed by a talented cast of Year 10 and 12 students who are rehearsing hard to bring this brilliant play to life. We hope you can join us this July to watch and enjoy it.
