Collective worship and religious education

Parents have the legal right to withdraw their children from religious education and collective worship, and would need to make this request formally in writing.  The school encourages participation and an inclusive approach to religion on the basis that an understanding and appreciation of others' beliefs enriches the lives of individuals and communities alike.  The school understands the difference between religious worship and learning about and observing a religious event.  In line with the aims of the school's Equality Policy, the school expects all pupils to attend school events, including those with a religious theme, in order for pupils to learn about the diverse community in which they live.
